The Power Up Texas Fund is a project of Texas for All, a coalition of some of the most powerful base building and civil rights organizations in Texas: Texas Freedom Network, Workers Defense Action Fund, Texas Organizing Project, Texas Civil Rights Project, & Planned Parenthood Texas Votes. Our organizations all share a desire to dismantle systems of oppression to create a thriving democracy and a thriving society that puts people of color, immigrants, workers, and women at the center, to direct their own liberation. The core organizations are all rooted in historically marginalized communities and understand the issues they face. Together, we believe we can create a better Texas that works for all people.

The Power Up TX Fund was launched in February 2021 when Texas was paralyzed by record-breaking cold and winter conditions and a failure by state leadership to invest in the infrastructure Texas needs. Low-wage workers, immigrants, people of color, and in particular Black and Latino families that have been the hardest hit by the COVID 19 pandemic were also the most impacted by the power outages that left families shivering in their own homes for days, and resulted in hundreds of deaths. Some of our response efforts garnered global attention with a feature in Vogue magazine.

Help to build the civil society infrastructure in Texas to respond to future disasters, be it climate change, pandemic or social injustice, or voter rights fights.
Organize and mobilize Texans to understand these crises as the political consequences when state leaders value corporate interests over the wellbeing of our communities. Our leaders must be held accountable to address the deep structural problems that fail Texans.

Texas democracy is at stake and the time to act is now.
